TOM NEAVINS NAMED CHIEF ACTUARY OF BANKERS LIFE AND CASUALTY COMPANY AND COLONIAL PENN LIFE INSURANCE

CHICAGO (July 14, 2005) - Tom Neavins,
61, has been named chief actuary of Bankers Life and Casualty
Company, Chicago, and its sister company, Colonial Penn Life
Insurance Company of Philadelphia.
"Tom's extensive experience managing product development,
valuation and reinsurance activities makes him a great choice to
lead the actuarial department at Bankers and Colonial Penn," said
Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer James
Hohmann.
Neavins joined Bankers in 2004 as vice president of Life and
Annuity Product Risk Management. Before coming to Bankers, Neavins
was senior vice president of Individual Products at Mutual of
Omaha, and has held positions with Irish Life of North America,
Interstate Assurance Company and other insurance organizations.
He earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Marquette University,
Milwaukee.
