SECURE HORIZONS, TUFTS HEALTH PLAN FOR SENIORS ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH BANKERS LIFE AND CASUALTY COMPANY

Marketing Alliance to Increase Awareness of Medicare+Choice Option for Medicare Beneficiaries.

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 22, 2002) - Secure Horizons®, Tufts Health Plan for Seniors and Bankers Life and Casualty Company announced today a marketing agreement that will allow licensed sales representatives of Bankers to offer Medicare eligible individuals the option of joining the Secure Horizons Medicare+Choice plan. According to Scott Perry, Bankers senior vice president for career sales and distribution, "The Secure Horizons Medicare+Choice product gives our agents an excellent opportunity to provide a valuable choice to our new and existing customers. Offering this option will enhance the extensive array of products and services Bankers has to offer."

Secure Horizons provides Medicare beneficiaries with additional benefits and value beyond traditional Medicare such as coverage for annual physicals, full coverage for inpatient hospital stays after an annual $125 inpatient deductible, $600 annual prescription drug coverage, low co-payment eye exams, preventive dental coverage and coordination of care between primary care physicians and specialists.

The agreement will complement current informational and new member activities done by Secure Horizons staff. Currently, Secure Horizons staff conducts public sales and informational meetings as well as in-home appointments. In addition, Area Development Representatives from Secure Horizons provide a direct link to Councils on Aging, Senior Centers, the SHINE program, community accounts and physician groups.

Bankers agents have undergone rigorous training by Secure Horizons including compliance training on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations. Regular ongoing and refresher training will be provided by Secure Horizons to Bankers agents so agents maintain the high-quality standards of the program.
