BANKERS LIFE AND CASUALTY COMPANY'S HONOLULU BRANCH RAISES OVER $6000 FOR ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION, ALOHA CHAPTER

Honolulu, HI (August 31, 2009) - Bankers Life and Casualty Company's Honolulu branch sales office recently raised over $6,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, Aloha Chapter, as part of the company's annual Forget Me Not Days® fundraiser.
The Honolulu office ranked among the company's top 10 fundraisers in the event, which united the insurer's Chicago-based home office with its branch sales offices nationwide in raising money for their local Alzheimer's Association chapter.
Thirteen volunteers from the insurer's Honolulu office, along with several of their family members, joined together to collect donations from passersby in Manoa and Waikele. In exchange, each donor was given a packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds, the official flower of the Alzheimer's Association, to plant in memory of the 28,000 people in Hawaii and 5.3 million Americans who live with Alzheimer's.
"We get a great deal of satisfaction from giving our time to this cause," explained Caine Nakata, Branch Sales Manager of Bankers' Honolulu office. "It's not only an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the disease, but to also give back to the community we serve, with 100 percent of the donations going to the Alzheimer's Association."
Elizabeth Stevenson, Executive Director and CEO of the Aloha Chapter said, "Forget Me Not Days is a wonderful example of how companies can support local charities by sharing information and building awareness.
